Jeff Richards began his professional writing career as a screenwriter and independent film development executive, writing over twenty feature films that were all optioned, sold, or produced. As a script development consultant, his clients included award-winning authors and screenwriters from studios such as Sony and Marvel. He also wrote the popular column “Indievelopment” for Script Magazine, about the art and business of writing for independent film.
After leaving the film industry, he has focused on writing fantasy and science fiction stories, including several novel-length manuscripts and short stories. He is also a founding member of the Otherworlds Writer’s League (OWLs), a SFF writers group that grew out of writers he met at Surrey International Writer’s Conference, which he attends each year.
In addition to his writing, he has been a film director and producer, Shakespearean actor, musical theatre performer, and opera singer. Jeff lives in the Cariboo region of British Columbia, Canada, with his wife Mehgan.
Jeff is represented by Rick Lewis of Martin Literary Management.
